Everything that we observe with our senses is part of the three-dimensional world. The higher dimensions are not accessible to most people. A few yogis and mystics could access these dimensions. It is a testimony to the fact that there is a higher dimension.
Yogis and mystics do intense tapasya to reach this dimension. Mytics like Ramkrishna Paramhansa and Vamshi Das entered a stage where they were continuously in a realm of their own. Ramkrishna was a worshipper of Kali. Vamshi Das belonged to the Gaudiya Vaishnav sampradaya.
This is perhaps the dimension where souls reside. All of us would move to this dimension when we die. We already existed in this dimension before we were born.
But attaining a state like Ramakrishna or Vamshi Das is quite rare. However, all of us have the potential to access the realm. Provided that we are steadfast and honestly try to uncover the deeper realities.
Detachment with worldly things
The biggest sign that these mystics and yogis have access to higher dimensions is their complete loss of interest in worldly things. It can be said that they are living in this world, but they are always in a state of trance.
In the state of trance, Vamshi Dasji Maharaja used to talk to the deities. He would lovingly scold the deities when they did not consume the delicacies offered to them. Likewise Ramkrishna Paramhansa would remain secluded for days when he worshipped Kali.
Complete disregard for societal norms
Self-realized souls like Ramkrishna Paramhansa and Vamshi Dasaji Maharaja didn’t care for what the world may think. For a layman who is not so spiritually advanced, they may be considered as eccentric. Or even lunatic.
But, behind the veil of eccentricity, is a very deep understanding of the futility of societal norms. In other words, they were living in a world of their own.
Vamshi Dasji Maharaj didn’t lock the room where he lived. This only shows that he was not at all worried about privacy. He wore what is called a ‘kaupina’ or langot. It just covered his loins.
No liking for comfort
All self-realized souls do not have the propensity to seek comfort. You can easily identify a self-realized soul by his austere habits. They have immense tolerance for extreme weather. Vamshi Dasji Maharaj would not wear anything except a kaupina even during the winters.
Most self-realized souls can go without food and even water for many days. It is said that Swami Vivekananda remained without water for 21 days.
They speak very little
Unlike the so-called ‘babas’ of today, the self-realized souls do not speak much. Ramana Maharishi hardly spoke anything. He communicated by way of writing even during interviews.
Even if these self-realized souls speak, it is very difficult to understand the meaning of what they are trying to convey. Only if one is spiritually enlightened can one understand the deeper meanings.
Lessons to learn
Sannyasis, in a sense, are a gift to society. From time to time, they appear in this world to teach us the way we should lead our lives. So, what can corporate leaders learn from them? Actually, a lot.
- Take change as a challenge
Evolved persons are not worried about the changes. Swami Vivekananda faced many adversities in his life. He battled with diseases and court cases throughout his life. But he fought everything and yet emerged as a strong person. He was focused only on the goals. That is to set up the Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math. He also settled the court cases related to his ancestral property.
If you find this difficult, keep focus on what can change and what cannot change. Deep meditators learn that the only thing that cannot change is the soul. That is one of the benefits of meditation. Sannyasis who meditated for long hours must have felt that the soul is permanent.
2. Develop a higher taste
Sannyasis are not interested in mundane things like money, sex or power. Why? Because they have developed a taste for higher things.
By higher things, we mean satisfaction of the soul. And not just meaningless joy that can only fulfil our physical hunger.
We will not be worried about petty things that can go wrong in our life. For most of us, life is not perfect. To learn to live life along with imperfection is something which we can learn from mystics, yogis and sannyasis.
3. Become more sensitive
These days, we are hardly compassionate. But compassion is a trait which will help us become more receptive to the needs of other people. We will become good listeners if we can meditate for a little while.
When we meditate, a slow transformation starts happening. We get to know our true self. That is why sannyasis who meditate are humble.
